Happy new year to all of our members!
We have finally closed out 2020 and started into 2021, which will hopefully have a much different ending. I hope everyone is well and that you have been able to survive the COVID-19 virus thus far.  We would like to thank all of our members who have joined us and participated in our monthly meetings. I also want to encourage members who haven’t come to a meeting recently to try visiting us on the second Monday of each month ( but make sure to check the web site to see that we are meeting before you drive to the club ). The MCSA board of directors will meet from 7:00-7:30 before each regular meeting. The meeting gets started at 7:30, and usually ends shortly after 8:00, followed by fellowship with other members for a bit. We hope to see you soon, and look forward to a great and safe year.

As MCSA Chairman of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank each of our team captains, officers and rental committee for their dedicated service to this club and their participation on the board. As a board we were able to work together with the members of this fine club to make the best out of a difficult year. Through some delays we were able to see the completion of our new storage garage for our equipment, supplies, and eventually some of our outdoor targets. And eventually we will be able to remove some of our old dilapidated sheds. We now have an outdoor archery range for our members who want to hone their skills or to teach someone new to the sport. We’ve had some volunteers work in the hall on several projects, including the floors and lights, sealing up the basement door to keep some heat in, adding a mop sink, and probably some things I didn’t mention. A thank you to those involved in replacing the American flag and refinishing the flagpole that we proudly display in the hall.

Something to look for in 2021 is the start up of some organized archery shoots, we have a volunteer to head this up and will keep you posted when he comes up with a plan. If you’re interested the best way to get involved is to come to the monthly meetings. We continue to talk about working toward getting our Small Games of Chance and Bingo license for the club and ask that if anyone would be interested in assisting in this process that you would please come see the board of directors. Once we get over the hump with covid 19 we may be able to raise more funds through some different things that are not legal for us at this point.

We ask that each member continue to police our ranges and report any unsafe activity. We continue to get reports of turf damage on the pistol range. Please be certain that when you are firing down range that your bullets will impact the backstop which is the hillside ( not the ground ) and will clear other target frames and holders. The rules are posted at each range for the safety of the shooter, and others that may be near the range.

Take care, and see you on the range,
Mike Cumberland
